VR-Street Ram

The VR-Street Ram.......Finally! A true bolt on Ram Air kit for Street Rods, Muscle Cars, Custom Trucks and SUVs. (Fits all 4 barrel applications)

This is not just some run of the mill kit; this is a true ram air system that uses the latest in airflow and racing technology to produce serious performance. What type of performance? How about up to second drop off your mile E.T.s and 3-5mph trap speed improvements! THAT is serious performance!

All VR ram air systems are designed to build manifold pressure and even reach positive boost depending on the application.

The kit includes the VR Stealth Base plate Venturi contoured twin entrance upper box, 10 ft of low drag reinforced black hose, (NO cheap dryer hose here!) 2 flat elliptical scoops that are over 120% efficient. These maximize ground clearance. Red silicone hose connections and all connection hardware is also included (We use the best of everything here, so no cheap hose or less than aircraft quality hardware is ever used by VR)

We started with the Chevy ZZ4 crate motor installed into at 88 Camaro/ w an automatic Trans 3.42 rear end 26.5 inch tall tires. With a standard cold air system this car returned the fallowing numbers.

1/4mile 12.98-13.06 trap speeds ranged from 106-107mph
Over 6 runs on a 90 degree day 80% Humidity. Monitoring the intake temp and Manifold pressure we saw the fallowing during all runs Intake temp = 98 deg, Manifold pressure was 13.25-13.5 depending on the gear

After the ram air was installed, the gains were immediate, 1/4mile 12.57-12.63 trap speeds were 109.8- 110.57 - 4runs, 92 deg day 88% humidity

Intake temps were 92deg (ambient temp for the day)
Manifold pressures were over 1 atmosphere @ 62mph or in other words positive boost! The kit put over 1.4+ pounds of manifold pressure into the manifold! That is roughly +35.7hp! THAT is serious horsepower!

Our next test subject was a 1970 Chevelle with a Chevy crate 502 engine, Turbo 400 Trans 4.56 rear end, 28 inch tall tires. With a sealed cowl system and high flow filter it returned the fallowing numbers

1/4mile 12.28-12.36 trap speeds were 110-111mph
Over 4 runs on a 72 deg night. 60% humidity
Manifold pressure was 13.2- 12.8 depending on the gear you were in. Intake temp was ambient 72 deg

After the Ram air was installed the same night
The next 3 runs were as fallows
11.98 @ 114.13mph
12.01 @ 114.01mph
Re jetted Carb (Richer)
11.87@ 114.8mph

Manifold pressures increased to a peak of 14.72(positive boost) to a lowest of 14.5psi in 3rd gear

This showed a peak PSI gain of 1.8psi and a low gain of 1.5psi. Even on the low side this is +43.39hp gain! Once again a serious performance improvement

Testing The VR street rod ram air system envolved a compolation of vehicles with varying engine displacements. We started with the ZZ4 crate motor installed into at 88 Camaro/ w a automatic trans 3.42 rear end 26.5 inch tall tires. With a standard cold air system this car returned the fallowing numbers.

We Guarantee you at least a 3 tenths or 3MPH! improvement in the mile.
